Mercedes C140 Data plate
This is the data plate that conrains the car's option codes. The vehicle's data plate is located on the bonnet slam panel, in front of the radiator shroud. This is the metal plate painted the same colour as the car's paint, and has a number of square holes punched through the plate (as opposed to the VIN plate which is described under section ## of this guide).
The attached images show the locations of the vehicle's option codes, paint codes, trim codes etc. Below we have listed every option code we;ve been able to find for the 140 series, and provides some further examples for comparison and interpretation in the images attached to teh gallery in this section.

It's probably been mentioned before on this site: The AU Fairlane (and LTD) are the closest thing you can get to a Lincoln in Australia. Their styling was very unique, and I think it was a real success compared to its contemporary AU Falcon, whose design was very heavily criticized. It might just be a coincidence, but most of the LTDs I have seen up for sale are 1999 models (perhaps their production numbers dropped off in later series cars??). Anyway, really loving the clear lens indicators and panel across the back, plus the Chrome LTD Rims.. Very classy stuff.
There are only a couple of other AU LTDs on the register - they do come up quite often, and mostly have been used as ex-hire cars from some of the mileage they show. That's why this example stood out - its got just 93,600km on the clock.
Finished in its original "Liquid Silver" paint (code LD), it presents in immaculate condition for a 23 year old car. The grey leather looks great, including the driver's bolsters. The seller noted that the car has a 10-speaker (with trunk CD stacker) premium sound system, plus a Tickford alarm (not sure whether those items are standard on an LTD). Unfortunately it doesn't have the screens in the headrests which was an option on the LTDs..
Whilst it is immaculate, the price is equally staggering at $38,990. See the original listing on carsales.com.au.
