*The range of month manufacturer codes provided is based on the assumption that pre-production GTs would have likely occurred from September 1996 (P01 – P11). Production EL GTs are believed to have commenced in February 1997.[23]
VIN number locations:
- Reverse stamped into the vehicle’s two data plates (located on the passenger’s side windscreen scuttle panel, riveted to the bulkhead in the engine bay).
- Stamped into the vehicle’s body (located on the passenger’s side inner-mudguard edge, between the mudguard edge and suspension strut tower under the bonnet).
- Printed on self-erasing VIN labels placed on several panels including the underside of the bonnet and boot lid, inner front mudguard edges, inner rear mudguard edges and on the doors (the door jamb area between the exterior skin and door card).
- Printed in black text on the Tickford Vehicle Engineering (TVE) build plate (located on the front edge of the passenger’s side suspension strut, in the engine bay).
- The engine number (last 11 digits of the VIN) is stamped into the front edge of the engine block, above the fuel pump.

This started our life as a run-out model 1275 LS - a low production high spec Australian version of the Mini.. The last model built in Australia in fact. This one is a bit more special, having a Toyota Starlet turbo engine fitted.. A very cool package that wouldn't be beaten by much in corners or a straight line.
The body work looks solid, and the paint looks a bit too good to be original. A bargain when spotted asking just $6,500 AUD. See the original listing here.
